Identifying challenges and pressures faced by media in reporting
In modern world media in the field of reporting is facing different challenges and pressures from different sources such as technology, sources of information, physical access, consumer or customer attitude, non-professionalism, institutions and political bias, relationship with media owners and professionals, freedom of the press and media code of ethics etc. There are most effective challenges and hurdles which interrupt professionals in the field of reporting.Source of information is very important for any news. One professional should use authentic source and media manager, chief reporter or editor should trust of on one reporter creditability. In most organizations reporter uses internet resources which are the fastest.However, sometimes unreliable, so reports in the field of report should use, accurate resource to avoid problems in the field of journalism.Other challenges which reporters are facing is physical access usually when a journalist goes for reporting in dangerous areas such as African countries,Afghanistan or Arab regions. In such areas journalist faced a lot of problems when they go for human rights violations. There are many examples of such cases in Kosovo, Afghanistan, Pakistan, where many professional being killed by people who did not want their activities to be known world widely. Moreover, bad journalism or dishonesty of reporters is creating a bad image of media in front of public when some reporters do wrong reporting.
In the past, the United States for instance, In 1998, Philip Glass (The New Republic), Patricia Smith (Boston Globe) and Michael Gallagher (The Cincinnati Enquirer) all admitted to having fabricated stories and reports are the example of such reporting which create a bad image in front of public. Such dishonesty can be a lack of interest of readers. Another challenge which is related to code and ethics faced by media professional.Media professional usually avoid such news and reporting, which is against public interest or create problems for public such as kids. Violence, killing video, sexual abuse news, which insists public to act in a negative way. In such cases an honest, professional avoid giving coverage. However, such news is the source of business and popularity of any news channels or organization for owners. So media owners insist professionals to show or cover such activities which are against media code and ethics.
Furthermore, In many countries, there is no freedom of press and journalist are facing many problems in regard of writing. The challenge is more intense if that press exists in societies that repress some rights, or rights of some people. For instance, it is obvious that more pressure to liberalize.
