Herzberg’s two-factor theory and analysis by Frederick Herzberg

Frederick Herzberg presented a theory of motivation or two-factory in 1959. There are two distinct sets of Herzberg theory. Hygiene factors include salary, working conditions, company polices, relationship with peers and bosses ad supervision, etc. Hygiene factor concern with people and how they treated on the workplace. Above context of hygiene factors is important and If they are unable to implement on employees then might be the cause of dissatisfaction amongst employees. The second aspect of Herzberg theory is motivation and job satisfaction and it includes a sense of achievements, recognition, responsibility, personal growth and achievements etc. (Mullins, 2007)

In Herzberg two factor theory, one factor has an end when it once fulfilled while the motivation factor is open because employees need motivation to improve their profession. To provide commitment and good service employees need satisfaction and motivation which comes with different tactics by filling their basic and professional needs on the workplace. (Mullins, 2007).To improve employee work organization needs well-enough capital and investment to make workforce productive, which is sometimes difficult to spend. However, it brings flexibility and better service in work through satisfaction and motivation. Herzberg two factors arevery close to Maslow needs theory.
Herzberg believes that managers or leaders should study, individuals on workplace and try to fulfil every individual’s professional needs and motivate them for extraordinary results to satisfy. Herzberg theory is a suitable tool to overcome different problems related to employees such as turnover, training and development with different tactic such as hygiene and motivation factors. (Mullins, 2007).

Well, after all discussion, There are many organizations are still facing above challenges in the sector, such as Banks, Hotels and other service areas, particularly it’s hard to understand how employees are motivated because motivation belong to humanity and he/she always unpredictable while environment or hygiene there are very less organized to give perfect condition or environment for work to their employees
